Dr Mahathir gets special award from Tatler- The Star,Sunday, 11 September 2005


KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has earned another accolade in his illustrious career as statesman with a Lifetime Achievement award from theMalaysia Tatler magazine.

The award was a tribute to the former prime minister for his contributions.

Accepting the award at the Shangri-La Hotel here on Friday night, the 80-year-old Dr Mahathir quipped:

“As you know, I still haven’t finished my lifetime.

“If I do something awful tomorrow, will you take the award away from me or do I get to keep this award?”

He said it was not often that people had good things to say to him.

“Sometimes you get revenge but sometimes you get an award ? from Tatler,” he said, drawing laughter from the floor.

Other awards given out in conjunction with the magazine’s 16th anniversary included Permodalan Nasional Bhd chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid (Sixteen Years at the Top), Airtime Management programming manager Kudsia Kahar (Most Promising Young Woman) Leader Universal Holdings managing director Sean H’ng (Most Promising Young Man) and Tasputra Perkim Daycare Centre chairman Elahe Norman (Most Charitable Force).
