SEKOLAH Sri Cempaka in Kuala Lumpur celebrated its 20th anniversary recently with a mesmerising charity concert, entitled Colour and Rhythm.
About 200 guests from Malaysian Care, Kiwanis, Tasputra and PKK Hulu Langat filled the North Hall of the school in Cheras for the musical special.
Guests were served a sumptuous meal at the school canteen and treated to a magic show.
Young talents such as Arthur Kam – who is in the Malaysia Book of Records as the country’s youngest professional drummer – captivated the audience with his amazing sense of rhythm.
The Glee Club serenaded the audience with golden oldies, while Crew d’Alonso showed that beautiful music can be made with ladders, buckets, bowls and other items.
Equally fascinating was a pulsating performance by 30 drummers. Many other talented musicians and dancers gave their best to make the concert memorable.
Also held in conjunction with the anniversary celebration was a dinner which took guests on a trip down memory lane.
The school donated a cheque for RM5,000 to Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak, Cheras. It was received by Raja Eleena Sultan Azlan Shah.
Awards were given to students with outstanding achievements in both academic and extra-curricular activities.
“We at Sri Cempaka not only produce scholars but sportsmen and students with heart and soul as well,” said school chairman Datin Freida Mohd Pilus.
